How to improve visitor’s experience of Stockholm – a joint project by SSE and Babson students

How might we improve the visitor’s experience of Stockholm, especially for those who face challenges from a disability? That was the overarching assignment for 11 mixed teams of students from Babson College, Boston and SSE. The teams had one week to come up with constructive solutions.

The assignment was made to be open-ended, ambiguous, and risky since innovation efforts often resemble these conditions. The students learned from a series of company visits to leading Stockholm firms in technology, design, social-impact, and financial sectors. They also were encouraged to explore Stockholm to experience the best that this vibrant city offers.

At the end of the week, the student teams produced a series of thoughtful solutions that with some additional effort could be implemented and become a reality.

“The joint SSE-Babson program was designed to give our students a truly international experience. With students in the SSE-MIB program coming from throughout the world, my Babson students were able to develop cross-cultural friendships and work together to design innovations that could benefit Stockholm. We appreciate the hospitality and the openness by the SSE students, staff, and faculty for this inaugural course.” (Phillip Kim, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at Babson College)
