New Executive Director at Center for Sustainable Markets
Associate Professor Martina Björkman Nyqvist has been at the Department of Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics since 2011. Her research focuses mainly on health, education, and gender in low income countries.
“I am very happy and honored to take over the leadership of Misum. I look forward to lead Misum into its second phase by working together with the new management team consisting of researchers at Stockholm School of Economics to produce research-based knowledge on how to develop sustainable markets”, says Martina Björkman Nyqvist.
“I am very pleased that Martina has agreed to take on this important job for Stockholm School of Economics. She will be an excellent leader to strengthen the new strategy focus on research and societal impact”, says SSE President Lars Strannegård.
Current Executive Director and Mistra Professor of Sustainable Markets Mette Morsing is moving on to contribute to sustainability on a global level. She has been headhunted for a position as the Head of Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) at the United Nations (UN) in New York.
“A job as an UN diplomat was not in my plans, but it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute to a global sustainability movement for business schools around the world. I have thoroughly enjoyed my years at Misum at Stockholm School of Economics, and I am entirely proud of the direction I have set with the team and with the new developments at Misum. And then, I feel very confident to ‘pass on the leadership torch’ to Martina,” Mette Morsing says.
Mette Morsing will continue to be a Visiting Professor at Misum and Stockholm School of Economics.
“I sincerely thank Mette for developing Misum’s new strategy with a high-level research team of faculty across departments and for engaging in the broader sustainability agenda of the school. And I am certain that her experiences at SSE will be valuable in her future work for this important global agenda,” says Lars Strannegård.
