New SSE MBA participants 2024

Congratulations on being enrolled in the SSE MBA Executive Format cohort of 2024! 🎉 We are looking forward to welcoming you at the School very soon. Below you will find all the practical information you need in order to prepare for your studies.

Before the start of the program

Admissions letter
An admissions letter is sent, or will be sent, to you by email from your Program Manager who is now your main point of contact for the program.

Virtual pre-departure events with the Executive MBA program team
During the fall, we will organize virtual pre-departure events that will help you to prepare for your SSE MBA adventure. The events will be announced on this page.

Get in touch with your Program Manager
We are here to answer any questions you might have. Feel free to reach out to your Program Manager and book a time for a call or online meeting

Accommodation
If you are not working and living in Stockholm, we recommend a number of hotels close to our campus where we have discounts for students at SSE. You find them here.

Visas
If you are a citizen of a country that does not require a visa to enter Sweden, you can travel to Sweden and stay for three months within one year without a visa, including for the SSE MBA Executive Format. If you are from a country that requires a visa to enter Sweden, you need to apply for a visa at your local embassy. Please note that as these are not full-time university studies, you will not be eligible for a student visa.

Throughout the program, some modules will be held off-campus. These modules may be in areas or countries that require permits or visas for entry. Since our participants come from many different countries, it is solely the participant's responsibility to find out what is required in their specific case and, if necessary, to apply for and obtain such permits or visas.

To do before the program starts
Before each campus week, there are things you will need to do to prepare. The first campus week is no exception. So, before you start on December 2, 2024, you will need to:

  • Read a book and do the corresponding pre-assignment
  • Fill in a Program Expectations survey
  • Attend two introduction webinars in Finance
  • Work on and hand in some SSE Finance case studies
  • Mandatory preparations for Accounting

Please note that you will receive detailed information and instructions for these preparations during the fall.

Introduction

Program start date: The SSE MBA Executive Format program will start on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 08:30 with registration and coffee.

During the first days, you will be introduced to the academic aspects of your MBA studies, and set the foundations for your learning environment. You will meet your fellow participants, as well as your Cohort Director and Program Manager. The admissions team will also be present the first day. There will be evening activities and you will finish late most days. Therefore it is recommended that you reserve the whole week, including evenings, for the program. Your life during and after your studies at SSE

Studying at SSE opens a lot of doors for you and we would love to see which path you decide to take. Welcome to SSE!

During your studies

Reflection groups
Reflection is one of the central pedagogical tools employed in our program and aims at shaping a mental and social space where meaning can be created, and learning takes place.

Already during the first campus week, you are divided into reflection groups of 6-8 people. The groups are put together to be as diverse as possible when it comes to gender, age, nationalities, industries, and positions. These groups are consistent throughout the 18 months of the program. The participants in your group will be your closest study buddies, and you will support each other when challenges arise.

Each reflection group is also responsible for one in class reflection session and one social activity. More information on this during the first campus week.

Leadership Live program
The SSE MBA Executive Format offers the LeadershipLive program which focuses on empowering you to realize your full potential personally, professionally, and as a global leader.

It is designed to be a comprehensive cornerstone of your development, which has multiple touchpoints and runs throughout the entire 18 months of the program. The goal is to support your development as a global leader capable of reflecting on and creating impactful change at the organizational, team, and individual levels.

After your studies

Career possibilities
Our alumni work in a vast variety of fields, industries, and countries. Most accept new job offers during or after their SSE MBA studies in their current or a new organization. Some settle down in a brand-new destination or found their own company. We strongly encourage you to check our alumni stories and, who knows, maybe you get some inspiration for what you would like to work with once you're done with your studies.

Life-long connections at SSE
At SSE, we aim to build connections that will last a lifetime. We engage our alumni in the life of the School as valued supporters, advocates, and lifelong learners who contribute to and benefit from connections.

As alum you will be part of the SSE alumni network, the SSE MBA network, and of course the network from your cohort. You will receive the school’s newsletter, invitations to webinars and other events, and can be part of SSE’s Linkedin alumni group. As alum, you are also welcome to apply for support from the SSE Business Lab, our successful incubator, should you embark on an entrepreneurial adventure.

If you want to give back, you can join SSE’s MSc Mentorship Program and become a mentor for one of our ambitious Master students, as well as take part in the SSE MBA’s different information sessions and witness about your experience with us.
