Center for Accounting and Managerial Finance
A core area of research deals with the role of accounting information in financial markets. Several theoretical studies are being carried out, but most of the studies are empirical and based on the idea of combining detailed knowledge of accounting and financial markets. A second research area concerns the use and design of financial accounting, and focuses on fundamental measurement problems as well as application issues.
Management control in a broad sense is also an important field for the department. Our ambition has been to deal with user-oriented problems as well as specific design problems. Most of the projects are to some extent parts of a continuous research project on behavioural accounting, which the centre has been involved in for over twenty years.
Projects are often carried out in close cooperation with large organisations within the private or the public sector. The main characteristic of this research is detailed empirical findings on the internal effects of accounting in different settings.
AMF is a research center at SIR, Stockholm School of Economics Institute for Research. The SIR Foundation is a national research institute for the economic sciences, with a focus on Business Administration in the broadest sense.
