About the program
Get ready to study with students from all over the world in this broad, deep, and highly customizeable program. The Bachelor program in Business & Economics gives you a solid foundation within the fields of business and economics that sets you up for a successful future career in leading positions.
Many previous students highlight how the unique way of thinking and learning at SSE will give you an edge throughout your career. During your studies, you will quickly develop your strategic, analytical, problem-solving, and self-reflection skills. You will gain in-depth understanding of the economic factors that affect both society and organizations and how those can be influenced in order to reach desired goals. You will also develop a deeper understanding for and an economics perspective on global challenges such as sustainability, climate crises, and international conflicts.
Companies and organizations such as our corporate partners are present throughout the program through guest lectures, live business cases, and projects to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Program structure
- Before the start of the program
In the weeks before the actual start of the program, we offer a unique 24-hour crash course in happiness and wellbeing at SSE's conference centre outside of Stockholm. The course is led by Micael Dahlen, Professor of Wellness, Welfare and Happiness at SSE. By integrating wellbeing into your academic and professional development, we hope that you as a student will help create a more sustainable and healthier world, both for yourself, your future colleagues and society. Because this is what economics is fundamentally about – welfare, wellbeing, and happiness.
Before you enroll, we also offer a preparatory Mathematics course as well as "Welcome to Swedish", a popular introductory course for international students who wish to familiarize themselves with the Swedish language and culture (even though all programs at SSE are taught in English). - Semesters 1–3
Semesters 1-3 provide you with a solid foundation through a wide range of mandatory courses within accounting, business law, data analytics, economics, finance, global challenges (sustainability, climate crises, global conflicts), innovation and entrepreneurship, management, marketing, reflective thinking, and strategy. - Semesters 4–6
Semesters 4-6 let you customize your degree by combining several (usually two) specializations with electives. The five specializations you can choose from are Accounting & Financial Management, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing.
One of the electives courses you can apply for is a 16 week internship course fully in English with an SSE corporate partner. Some other examples are the "CIVICA Engage track" (social engagement in a global setting), "Happiness and Wellbeing: Making a better life", "Applied History: World Orders & Present Challenges", and "Sustainability Challenges: Business in Society".
In semester 5 or 6, you have excellent possibilities for an exchange semester at one of our more than 100 prestigious partner universities around the world. The internship and the exchange semester cannot be combined.
