Performance art tour of the SSE permanent collection
Artist duo Catti Brandelius (Miss Universum) and Eric Palmqwist invite us to a musical tour of the SSE permanent collection. With acoustic instruments and minimal setup, the duo performs newly written songs that speak to selected artworks in the SSE permanent collection.
Themes?
Art, love, the forest, hope, and doubt.
Catti Brandelius is a multidisciplinary artist working with video and performance. She often plays with identity and expectations — for example, through her alter ego Miss Universum, which challenges traditional ideas of beauty. She has also embodied personas like Evert Taube and the Elite Acrobat (the latter in a video-work shown on the small screen last term). Humour and vulnerability are key elements in her artistic expression. Brandelius was a member of the band Doktor Kosmos, and this spring her exhibition “Flyglektion” (Flying lesson) is shown at Café Klotet. In 1999 Catti Brandelius/Miss Universum did a series of guided tours called Public service at Moderna museet. They were recorded and are now part of the Moderna museet collection.
Eric Palmqwist is a musician, songwriter, and visual artist. He gained national recognition in 2019 with his album En halv gris kan inte gå (A Half Pig Can’t Walk) — a concept record about overcoming addiction. Since then, he has released several albums, including Hejdå (Goodbye), 2020, and Värmen (The Warmth), 2020. This spring, his exhibition Smeared and broken cowboys is shown at Riche.
