Besides sharing experiences about the construction of successful smart regions, the speakers in this module will provide their views about the challenges and risks associated with the transformations required for a place to become smart, which have the potential to outweigh the benefits. The participants can expect to gain actionable insights on how to use technologies in their organizations, local communities, cities and municipalities to address grand challenges such as sustainability, economic security, and digital inclusivity, all for the benefit of people and societies.
How can entrepreneurship and scale-up ecosystems contribute to the development of smart regions? What is everyone’s role in building such places? What are the challenges and risks associated with the transformations required? How are the traits of smart urban centers compared to those of rural areas?
This module is co-hosted with the SSE Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets (MISUM), and moderated by SSE professors Sara Jack and Anders Richtnér.
