About the event
In this Misum open seminar, Assistant Professor of Economics Yogita Shamdasani will present on the working paper “Habit Formation in Labor Supply” (with Luisa Cefala, Supreet Kaur and Heather Schofield). The paper explores how labor supply is influenced not only by preferences for leisure but also by past habituation to work.
Through data analysis and a field experiment with stand workers in Chennai, India, the paper demonstrates that temporary increases in labor supply can lead to persistent changes, indicating a positive inter-temporal labor supply elasticity. These findings shed light on the persistence of irregular work attendance and high turnover among low-income workers.
The seminar will take place at the Stockholm School of Economics on Thursday, June 12 from 12:00 to 13:15 in the Yinka Shonibare (A536) room. A light lunch will be provided during the seminar for all registered participants. Please register your attendance here.
