FROGEE 2024 Academic Conference: “How does gender matter in the economy”?

The Forum for Research on Gender Economics in Eastern Europe (FROGEE) together with the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) invites academics to join a one-day conference titled “How Does Gender Matter in the Economy?”, at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE).

About the conference

The conference will serve as a pivotal moment to take stock of the achievements of the FROGEE initiative, which is supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and dedicated to advancing research and policy outreach in gender economics across Eastern Europe. The event will highlight critical research areas within gender economics, and set the groundwork for the ongoing commitment to and expansion of this important work within the FREE network and its associated institutes in Poland, Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, Latvia, and Armenia.

Keynote speakers

The conference will feature four keynote speakers, each addressing a specific thematic area.

  • The evolution of gender in the labor market
    Keynote speaker: Prof. Barbara Petrongolo, University of Oxford

  • Do women and men behave differently in economic situations?
    Keynote speaker: Prof. Muriel Niederle, Stanford University

  • Beyond the labor-market: Gender gaps in politics
    Keynote speaker: Prof. Manuel Bagues, University of Warwick

  • Beyond the labor market: Violence against women
    Keynote speaker: Prof. Jeffrey Grogger, University of Chicago
