Tech workshop | Using AI: Essential techniques for effective prompts - 15 May 2024
This tech workshop focused on Generative AI (GenAI), specifically exploring the capabilities of large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot. It aimed to inspire curiosity and experimentation, providing students with perspectives and insights regarding how to effectively use LLMs in their research, coursework, and professional work.
Participants learned essential principles for engaging with LLMs, such as crafting precise prompts to generate targeted outputs and understanding the dynamics of AI's response mechanisms. The workshop emphasized practical techniques in prompt engineering to enhance the AI's ability to produce relevant and creative solutions.
Students were equipped with a deepened understanding and inspirational frameworks regarding how to interact with GenAI, enabling them to apply these tools in innovative ways across various academic and professional scenarios.
The workshop was led by Sebastian Krakowski, Assistant Professor at SSE's House of Innovation. Sebastian has an educational background in economics and management and focuses his research on the interplay of digital technology and organizational strategy, particularly the wide array of technologies collectively referred to as artificial intelligence (AI). His work explores the organizational and behavioral implications of the adoption and use of AI, including how these technologies are reshaping roles and skills in the workplace and how human-centric approaches can contribute to successful digital transformation with shared, societal value creation.
This seminar was part of Tech Initiative's event series on "AI unpacked: From basics to business strategies". All Tech Initiative events are designed for everyone — no advanced tech knowledge is needed.
