Bachelor thesis attracts media’s attention

Viktoria Lyttkens and Philip Leiser are two SSE students whose bachelor thesis in Accounting and Financial Management has attracted media’s attention. In their study, they find that personal-owned companies provide an excess return in comparison with companies where a person is not a major stockholder, as well as the fact that founder-owned companies provide an excess return in comparison with companies not owned by a founder.

Låg tillförlitlighet i ”statistiskt signifikanta” forskningsresultat är ett vanligt förekommande problem inom många forskningsfält inklusive samhällsvetenskaperna. I en ny artikel argumenterar ett stort antal ledande forskare för att gränsen för vad som anses vara ett statistiskt signifikant resultat bör justeras för att öka tillförlitligheten i resultat som rapporteras vara ”statistiskt signifikanta”.
