This year’s Social Innovation Scholarship has been awarded to Lukas Uhrström, Ludvig Hartler and Jan-Hendrik Wieder. These students were awarded for their work with the Tutu Tribe Entrepreneurship Academy in Cape Town, South Africa. The scholarship will support them this summer while working for and supporting a social entrepreneur, leveraging their business skills to create positive change. Social innovation and social entrepreneurship are initiatives aimed to improve what is missing or not working in the social structure: new solutions, methods and ideas that create a sustainable society – economically, socially and ecologically.

We are excited to introduce a new course, "Rhetoric: The Art of Persuasion," which will be offered in the upcoming Fall 2023 semester. Designed to equip students with fundamental skills in persuasive communication, this course encompasses a comprehensive blend of theoretical, historical, and applied approaches.

The Sustainability Essentials program is designed to meet the needs of executives in charge of transformation projects, who need to re-invent business models and develop strong competitive drivers in the short, medium, and long term. CSR Director Lin Lerpold is in charge of the program, together with fellow CSR researchers Ranjula Bali Swain and Örjan Sjöberg as faculty.

In May 2023, Misum together with the Beijer Institute and the British Embassy hosted a high-level event at the Stockholm School of Economics on recent developments in integrating biodiversity into business education and economic thinking.

SSE President Lars Strannegård’s op ed on grade inflation in Sweden has sparked a discussion about the national grading system. Politicians, pundits and teachers have all expressed support for a revision to make grades as well as admissions more fair and equitable.

There is a grade inflation at Swedish high schools. We can no longer trust that students who get into the most sought-after programs have the necessary skills. The Stockholm School of Economics is now considering abandoning the national admissions system and instead introduce our own system where certain schools would be red-flagged, SSE President Lars Strannegård says.
