The Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) and the Forum for Research on Gender Economics in Eastern Europe (FROGEE) are pleased to invite submissions of papers for a one-day conference titled “How Does Gender Matter in the Economy?”, to be held in Stockholm, Sweden on December 6th, 2024.

With its eleven newly admitted companies, SSE Business Lab is reaching a new milestone: 307 startups have now passed through the incubator. More than one third of these were admitted just in the past four years.

Gender equality is vital for global progress. This includes fiscal policies, social protection, and climate finance to support women, particularly in low-income areas, promoting equality, resilience, and sustainable development.

Research on school improvement shows multiple factors aid turnarounds at underperforming schools. Using qualitative comparative analysis of 77 Swedish schools over 12 years, no single solution was found. Instead, different factor combinations work, depending on the local context. This has implications for school improvement research and education policy.

A new collaboration aims to help CEOs in the business sector enhance their work in increasing diversity and inclusion. The collaboration is between Mitt Liv, a leading partner for diversity, equity and inclusion, and the Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education, ranked best in the Nordics for leadership and business development according to the Financial Times.

In the brand new FT ranking Europe’s Leading Startup Hubs, SSE’s startup incubator receives several accolades. SSE Business Lab is number one in Sweden and has the best track record in Europe, according to the ranking.

SSE Business Lab was one of the first incubators in Sweden to introduce diversity and sustainability criteria in their admissions. Now, they’re raising the bar further by making sustainability coaching mandatory for all companies.

The Stockholm School of Economics produced the highest number of doctoral theses in entrepreneurship in Sweden in 2023. Eight out of the 54 produced in the country, came from SSE's House of Innovation.

Since 1995, Sweden has allocated increasing parental leave to both parents, encouraging fathers' involvement. Pamela Campa, researcher from SITE, analyzes Sweden's parental leave policies, revealing diverse impacts on parental roles and gender attitudes.
