The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been at the forefront of global efforts to address pressing environmental, social and economic challenges. As the 2030 agenda deadline approaches, it is crucial to assess and enhance our strategies for accelerating progress towards these goals. This ISAP session aims to explore the power of SDG synergies and the advancement of indicators as key drivers for accelerating the achievement of the SDGs. Interdisciplinary experts from both north and south will discuss how leveraging synergies among various SDGs can amplify impact and create a virtuous cycle of progress. We will dig deeper into the importance of refining and advancing indicators to better measure SDG progress and discuss innovative approaches and emerging trends in indicator development and data collection. The “Keys to SDG acceleration” session will share practical examples and case studies of how countries, organisations and communities have successfully harnessed SDG synergies and improved their indicators to expedite progress. Policy recommendations to better integrate SDG synergies and indicator advancement into national and subnational plans and initiatives will be presented.
