We are excited to introduce a captivating new course, "Rhetoric: The Art of Persuasion," which will be offered in the upcoming Fall 2023 semester. Designed to equip students with fundamental skills in persuasive communication, this course encompasses a comprehensive blend of theoretical, historical, and applied approaches.
The course begins with an introductory theoretical module, drawing inspiration from renowned ancient scholars like Aristotle and Cicero. By exploring their timeless works, students will gain a solid foundation in the fundamental concepts of rhetorical communication.
The historical module delves into influential examples of rhetorical communication throughout history. Students will be introduced to notable speeches that have left a profound impact, providing them with valuable insights into the power of persuasive language and its historical significance.
Finally, the course concludes with an applied module, offering practical training in both oral and written forms of communication. Students will have the opportunity to refine their skills through workshops focusing on writing persuasive op-eds and delivering compelling speeches.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
