Book launch: Intelligence and Contemporary Conflict

The Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication at the Stockholm School of Economics and Bokförlaget Stolpe cordially invite you to the book launch of Intelligence and Contemporary Conflict: Communication in Diplomacy, Statecraft, and War.

Join us for an engaging discussion with an esteemed panel on how international conflicts are increasingly shaped by the crucial role of secret intelligence and intelligence services:

  • Lena Hallin, Major General in the Swedish Air Force and former Director of Swedish Military Intelligence and Security (MUST)
  • Jan Leijonhielm, former Swedish intelligence officer and Director of the Institute for Eastern Economic Affairs (Öst Ekonomiska Byrån)
  • Matthew Hefler, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Ax:son Johnson Institute for Statecraft and Diplomacy, based at the Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication. Editor of the book.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Rikard Westerberg, Center Director at the Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication. The panel discussion will be held in English.

This collection is made up of timely essays exploring the role of intelligence and secret services in contemporary conflicts, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It brings together leading intelligence experts to examine topics like secrecy and policy-making, intelligence liaison, and intelligence in public diplomacy.

Attendees will receive a copy of Intelligence and Contemporary Conflict.
