Two Master students in Economics have won an award from the Swedish Gender Equality Agency

The Swedish Gender Equality Agency's thesis competition was organized for the first time in 2021. The content related criterion for participation in the competition is that the essay contributes to knowledge about gender equality policy or social development based on the ambitions of gender equality policy.

Two Master students at the Department of Economics at SSE, Matilda Fors och Lisa Maria Jonsson, have won an award from the Swedish Gender Equality Agency for their thesis: A Hard Pill to Swallow? Subsidized Contraceptives and Women’s Intergenerational Mobility in a Difference-in-Differences Framework.

Congratulations Matilda and Lisa Maria!

Jurys' Motivation: This essay is very well written and of high quality. It is particularly important to highlight that the paper brings a gender perspective to a field that often considers the world as gender neutral in its analyses. Furthermore, the paper applies an advanced quantitative methodology well and makes thoughtful arguments about the study's findings.
