A career at H&M
One more year has now passed for the H&M Retail Club. We ended this year with an exclusive event where all RM students were invited to attend. This event was held by H&M focusing on the career opportunities they provide. Two recruiters from the company's talent acquisition team presented us with the different career paths within the firm and valuable advice for the recruitment process, while the top managers walked us through their own stories and career journeys. As an example, Linda van den Bogaard, CFO of & Other Stories, talked about how her journey started in the Netherlands as an H&M store associate. The students also heard about how Nina den Ruijter, a Regional E-Commerce Merchandise Manager, started in the music industry. Nina shared how she worked as a PR and Marketing manager worldwide for electronic dance music and why she left that for H&M. This was then continued by Klas Degeryd, the Head of Controlling Group Omnichannel Portfolio, who talked about how his journey with H&M started in Rome, how it continued in London and what he now does from the head office in Stockholm. Klas also shared his thoughts and experiences from Gothenburg and San Diego studies.
Overall, the event was exciting and valuable according to the students, as they got to hear first-hand insights and ask questions directly. During the breaks, the Center for Retailing offered the students fika.
