Social entrepreneurship with Reach for change
Louise held a presentation about social innovation and social entrepreneurship, which is at the core of the organization. Reach for change is a non-profit organization who works to find innovative ways of making life better for children and youths. Louise was in turn accompanied by Nour Habib and Fatma Guettou digitally. Nour runs Trygg Rätt which is a program that helps people get out of criminality. Fatma Guettou runs together with her husband Watoto Arts, where they sell dolls that reflect society (e.g. with different skin colors, hair colors, disabilities etc.). Louise explained that social businesses differ from traditional ones in the sense that they strive to create an impact or change to make life better for more people.
As part of the workshop, the students were assigned into groups where the task was to answer: “How can social entrepreneurship solutions reach more people?”. That question relates to some of the challenges that these small organizations are facing such as difficulties of long-term financing, lack of resources and mentorship. Some proposed actions were to highlight the trustworthiness of the small organizations' contributions (making companies more willing to invest), cooperating with football clubs, municipalities creating a social entrepreneurship fair etc.
