Stockholm Centre for Organizational Research (Score) was established in 1992 by Stockholm University and Stockholm School of Economics jointly, when the Swedish Parliament decided to increase the government’s financial support for thematically focused and multidisciplinary research on the transformation of the public sector. In the centre, researchers with an interest in the organization of society, and in particular in the interplay of public policy, political administration, business, culture, and civil society in the disciplines of management, social anthropology, sociology, political science and economic history, are active.

Subject description
The holder of the professorship in Public management shall work to fulfil Score’s long-term mission. This entails a broad responsibility for active contribution to the functioning of Score as a research centre dedicated to thematically focused and multidisciplinary research on management, organization and evaluation of the public sector.
The position will be placed at Score and means funding to a maximum of 70 % during one year. The position may be prolonged for several years although no longer than six. The position can also be divided over several years. The position can also be combined with external research grants, teaching, part time work at the applicant’s home university, or something else.
Main responsibilities
Main working tasks are research and research directing and management.
The holder of the position shall work towards the fulfilment of Score’s core mission, and to maintain and develop research collaboration between Stockholm University and Stockholm School of Economics, and from this platform, develop regional, national and international research cooperation within Score’s research area.
The holder of the position shall also actively contribute to applications for external funding for the centre, be prepared to take on research management administrative assignments, and contribute to the management and development of Score’s local, regional, national and international collaborations.
Qualification requirements
Qualified for employment as a guest professor is a person who has demonstrated both research and teaching proficiency, and already holds a professorship or in other ways have been evaluated qualified for a professorship.
Research proficiency is to have been demonstrated through independent research in public management that to a significant degree exceeds the requirements for qualification as associate professor, both in terms of quality and quantity. Planning and management of research activities are also to be assigned significance.
Teaching proficiency is to have been demonstrated through teaching in first cycle education, second cycle education and third cycle education. Assessment of teaching skills should cover both the planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching proficiency is to be well-documented in a manner which makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities.
The applicant must have a documented interest in basic and multidisciplinary social science research and conduct research within the subject area. The applicant must also be interested in contributing to and developing ongoing research themes at Score (Rule setting and rule following, Democracy, power and legitimacy, Organizing markets and Organizing knowledge) and to develop and contribute to new research themes.
The applicant must have the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise needed to perform the duties well.
Assessment criteria
Special research proficiency in Score’s research areas; basic research pertaining to management, organization and evaluation of the public sector and its relations to the state, business, and civil society.
Special emphasis will be placed on the ability to cooperate with employees and colleagues in a multidisciplinary environment.
Strong emphasis will be placed on successfully having applied for and received funding for projects from external research funding bodies.
Strong emphasis will also be placed on the ability to initiate, maintain and develop networks, national as well as international, in the subject area.
Strong emphasis will likewise be placed on administrative proficiency and the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society and to inform about research and development.
The following is a merit:
• administrative talents and capability to collaborate with the surrounding society and to inform about research and development.
• successful research supervision of at least one student to the PhD degree
