Grant to Kristina Tamm Hallström

Kristina Tamm Hallström (DMO) has been granted 1.226.500 SEK from the Swedish Retail and Wholesale Council (Handelsrådet) for the project “What can be learn from the 100-year-olds?”, to be run in 2022 and 2023, together with Ingrid Gustafsson (Score) and Sofia Wiberg (Urban and Regional Studies, KTH).

The project runs in parallel with a “sister project” funded by Hakon Swenson Stiftelsen, which includes Karin Fernler (DMO) and Jenny Lindberg (Urban and Regional Studies, KTH). The project groups will investigate value creation processes around 12 small urban stores for consumer products, founded 100 years ago and still in business, to explain their existence in today’s rationalized, large-scale and often globalized retail landscape including survival strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic. To identify values and value creation the actor-networks of the stores – in the narrow as well as the broader, institutional environment – will be examined.
