Club Directors from Allsvenskan and Superettan gathered for an insightful leadership program

Last week, leaders from Allsvenskan and Superettan participated in two intensive and inspiring days filled with fact-based lectures, productive group discussions, and valuable networking.

The days were led by Professor Martin Carlsson-Wall and Anders Sewerin, in collaboration with Svensk Elitfotboll and Enable Sweden, as part of an ongoing series of educational modules.

At the start of summer, the Stockholm School of Economics Center for Sports & Business, together with Svensk Elitfotboll, launched a new leadership training program aimed at the clubs in Allsvenskan and Superettan. The second module was conducted in early September.

We want the clubs and the league to develop positively over time. This time, among other things, we talked about finding strength in an organization’s history to create positive change.

The goal of the program is to ensure the quality and development of the clubs' own strategies, to anchor a shared vision of success for SEF and its clubs, and, of course, individual competence development for key individuals.

The training program is intended for senior decision-makers in the clubs and is conducted in several different modules at Kämpasten in Sigtuna, which are in turn complemented by several digital training sessions. Topics for the second module included, in addition to a summary of the first module:

  • Traditions as a resource: Leveraging an organization's history to drive positive change
  • Unique arena experiences: not just on match days, but also by innovating events like annual meetings
  • Goal management: Turning strategies into measurable goals and actionable activities

This second module was also divided into two sessions, one for representatives from Allsvenskan clubs and one for representatives from Superettan clubs. Each club has two available spots in the program.

The training is also supported by the Stockholm School of Economics and Svensk Elitfotboll's partner, Enable.

Together with Enable Sweden, we look forward to continuing to support Swedish football, both in everyday matters as well as in the long-term and more strategic change work.

The leadership training will continue during the fall.
