Swedish Olympic Academy Open Friday: Elite Performance & Balance – Take Care of Yourself

On Friday, March 21, the Swedish Olympic Academy hosted its first Open Friday on the theme Elite Performance & Balance – Take Care of Yourself.

Over the course of three intensive hours, some of Sweden's leading researchers, advisors, and coaches explored the importance of being whole, healthy, and in balance - a vital foundation for long-term performance development.

Topics such as the role of the immune system, nutrition, sleep, and recovery, as well as mental health, were highlighted as essential components for performing at the highest level - regardless of one's sport or level.

Following brief introductions by experts Lykke Tamm, Linda Bakkman, Tobias Lundgren, Mattias Norström, Stefan Markus Reitzner, and John Axelsson, the session opened up to a broader audience. Around fifty participants actively contributed to the discussion, where one clear message emerged:

To perform sustainably over time - whether you are an elite athlete or not - the foundation must be in place: train, eat, sleep, repeat.

The next Open Friday is already scheduled for September 19 at KTH, with the theme Sports Tech - save the date!
