Female Economist of the Year scholarship - to inspire young women
The award-winning digital music service Spotify is, for the second consecutive year, primary sponsor and host company for the scholarship winner. This year Anna Lundin, who graduates with a Master's degree in Marketing and Media Management from the Stockholm School of Economics in June, has won the scholarship which includes a tailor-made position for a year at Spotify.
“The drive, the commitment, the brains and the heart belong to the person not to their gender, or to their geographical location, or to their demographic affiliation. The Female Economist symbolizes the will to take action to achieve a more equal gender balance in senior management positions. I myself would like to have an impact and the Female Economist prize gives me the opportunity to do just that”, says Anna.
At Spotify the scholarship winner will be given a unique opportunity to work in a global, fast-pace company where innovation and playfulness rule. In her tailor-made position, she will work closely with the two Spotify founders, Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon.

Anna has a strong commitment to the Third World and to social, economic and environmental sustainability issues. In 2012 she was awarded the Anders Wall Scholarship which brought the chance to work at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in London for 14 months. While an undergraduate, she had the opportunity to explore and work in the financial world, mainly through the Investment Consulting Group and Deutsche Bank in London. Anna also has professional experience as a brand strategist at Bold and at Åkestam Holst.
“The Female Economist of the Year Scholarship is a vital part of our work to establish strong female role models, and ultimately more gender equality in business”, says Professor Lars Strannegård, President of the Stockholm School of Economics.
This year's winner will be presented with her scholarship on June 9 at a ceremony at the Stockholm School of Economics.
The Female Economist of the Year
The Female Economist of the Year scholarship, whose purpose is to inspire young women to advance in business, was founded in 2001 by Stockholm School of Economics alumna Barbro Ehnbom. The scholarship includes, among other things, a purpose-designed, year-long program at Spotify in Sweden and abroad. Previous host companies have included Pfizer, American Express and the Boston Consulting Group.
