Success for SSE’s 24 hour crowdfunding
The campaign Rally for SSE! is the first crowd-funding organised by a university in Sweden. Donations were made through the Stockholm School of Economics’ FundedByMe platform and engaged more than 400 donors aged 19-80.
− We are overwhelmed and grateful for the fantastic support given to us throughout this campaign. The great result and the strong commitment from such a wide range of donors, suggests a paradigm shift in Sweden when it comes to this type of crowd-funding, says Katarina Hägg, Director External Relations at the Stockholm School of Economics.
The average donation to Rally for SSE! was SEK 99 and 28 percent of those who donated are students at the Stockholm School of Economics. The largest group of those who donated.consisted of alumni.
− The campaign goal was not a certain amount collected but to engage all in the vicinity of the Stockholm School of Economics. The fact that so many students have demonstrated their support and donated, proves that we managed to involve the entire network in our focus on Entrepreneurship, says Lars Strannegård, President of the Stockholm School of Economics.
Through Rally for SSE! the Stockholm School of Economics sought support to be able to continue to attract the best students, recruit world-class researchers and to provide the highest quality of both teaching and research. For Stockholm School of Economics, this support is especially important as the university is dependent on private contributions and donations.
All donations that have been collected via Rally for SSE! will be allocated between different projects with the purpose of further developing the university’s focus on Entrepeneurship.
− Entrepreneurship is an important field where our alumni and students can use their knowledge and skills acquired from the Stockholm School of Economics to develop innovative strategies to meet some of the greatest challenges of our time, both in business and in the world at large, says Lars Strannegård.
During the day of the campaign, prizes have been awarded to those who donated. The prizes were provided by sponsors such as IKEA, SAS, H&M, Åhléns, Electrolux, Spotify and others.
