MBA scholars to strengthen Swedish competitiveness

Xiaolin Wang and Matt Burr Dixon have been awarded the SSE MBA Silfvén scholarship 2016. The scholarship is given to the next generation of leaders to promote the competitiveness of Swedish-based business in an international market.

The SSE MBA Silfvén scholarships are funded by the Carl Silfvén Foundation, a foundation established in 1914 through the will of Carl Silfvén.  The scholarships cover the full tuition fee of SEK 465,000 for the SSE MBA Executive Format program, as well as travel and boarding expenses for the recipients.  

“We are very proud to offer this scholarship”, says Karin Wiström, Director SSE MBA, Stockholm School of Economics. “We hope that Xiaolin Wang and Matt Burr Dixon will bring best practices and state of the art management knowledge back into their businesses and become leaders with a strategic and holistic understanding of management, working more efficiently throughout their organizations.”

Xiaolin Wang is a 33-year-old consultant at Business Sweden, who resides in China.
“I feel extremely honored and grateful for receiving this significant scholarship. The award is a great boost to my future endeavors both professionally and personally. It is really a fantastic opportunity for me, as I am making a career through, promoting business between Sweden and China. To study abroad and attend a reputable business school like SSE is a great chance for me to broaden my horizon and enrich my life experience. I believe it is a life-changing opportunity and I am determined to make the most of it”, says Xiaolin Wang.

Matt Burr Dixon is 40 years old, Head of Contract Management, Region sub-Saharan Africa at Ericsson Ltd, who resides in South Africa.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to take part in the 2016 Executive MBA program offered by SSE. I am confident that the knowledge and skills that I will acquire through the scholarship will be great for my future career. Furthermore I am motivated to make the most of this opportunity to learn and network with like-minded participants and faculty, and to be an ambassador for the foundation throughout the program”, says Matt Burr Dixon.
