Oliver Wyman and the Swedish House of Finance invite to Women in Finance Day

Oliver Wyman and the Swedish House of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics invite financial industry leaders, politicians and researchers to WOMEN IN FINANCE DAY on October 18th, 2016.

Globally only one-fifth of boards and 16 percent of executive committees in financial services are comprised of women, according to the ‘Women in Financial Services’ report by global management consultancy Oliver Wyman. This is only a slight improvement in both categories since the report was last published in 2014. Sweden in particular, had a representation in executive committees of 30% in 2013. However, as growth since then is close to zero the glass ceiling in the industry seems still to be intact.

Organisations need to advance women by offering bolder structural solutions to the mid-career conflict identified in the report, creating the right working arrangements and fostering more profound cultural change”
Astrid Jaekel,
Partner and lead author of the report

The Swedish House of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics recognizes the the deficit of female leaders in the financial sector. In cooperation with the school’s Department of Management and Organization we conduct a research project with the aim to understand how talent management practices influence women’s career decisions in the financial sector.

We actively work to attract more women to study Finance through initiatives like Women’s Finance Day and Women’s Finance Network.”
Maria Frithz Warg,
Senior Advisor at the Swedish House of Finance

On October 18th we invite active researchers, politicians and financial industry leaders to discuss this topic. We will share knowledge, discuss new ideas and develop concrete actions aimed towards improving gender diversity within the industry.

Per Bolund, Minister for Financial Markets, will represent the Ministry of Finance during a conversation with Martin Andersson, Partner at Oliver Wyman and former Director General of the Swedish FSA (Finansinspektionen). Astrid Jäkel, Partner at Oliver Wyman and Lead Author of the ‘Women in Financial Services’ report will share her observations. The financial industry is represented by speakers from Folksam (Pia Marions, CFO) and SEB (David Teare, CRO).

The agenda is posted on: www.houseoffinance.se.
