ALUMNUS BECOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SSE BUSINESS LAB
Douglas Stark was recruited to Budbee immediately after completing a Bachelor Program at SSE. While a student, he worked part-time at SSE Business Lab for a year and a half. Most recently, he was Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Budbee, formerly a SSE Business Lab start-up. He also has a background in the Swedish Armed Forces where, following the completion of Persian language studies at the Armed Forces Interpreter Academy, he became head interpreter for the Swedish forces in Afghanistan.
“ The Lab was a central part of my time as a student, and it also led to a unique first job that was an incredible learning experience. Entrepreneurship is a cornerstone of SSE’s operations and history. This is an important opportunity to be able to return to the school and, above all, a really exciting one,” says Douglas Stark.
“ SSE Business Lab is a central part of SSE’s focus on innovation. Douglas brings with him a network and practical experience from the start-up sector. As an alumnus of SSE, he will also contribute to further strengthening SSE Business Lab’s position within our extensive network,” says Lars Strannegård, President of the Stockholm School of Economics.
The relocation to the A-House, situated between SSE and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, is an opportunity for SSE Business Lab to further its interaction with the many entrepreneurial networks in the proximity of KTH, while still remaining close to SSE.
Current Executive Director Erik Wetter will be based at SSE’s Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets (Misum) where he will focus on Big Data within both research and education, as well as international projects and policy issues via the non-profit organization Flowminder.
