Two professors from SSE elected into The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences

Professors Anna Dreber Almenberg and Sara Rosengren are among the 18 people from academia and industry and business to have been elected as members of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) at the Academy’s most recent assembly.

IVA builds bridges between academia, the business community and the political sphere and are divided into twelve divisions with approximately 1,000 members. The divisions monitor, analyze and impact important issues within their field by, for example, organizing seminars on topical issues. The members are also active in IVA’s Program Council and projects, and contribute in their area of expertise to IVA’s referral responses to the Government.

Anna Dreber Almenberg is a professor of economics and has been elected to the Economics division. Anna Dreber Almenberg’s research is primarily in behavioral economics and focuses right now on the replicability of research results: why a large share of research results cannot be replicated when a study is done on a new sample and whether it is possible to predict which results can be replicated. Her work has been published in the top science journals and her articles have received more than 5,000 scientific citations. Anna Dreber Almenberg became a Wallenberg Academy Fellow in 2013 and is a member of the Young Academy of Sweden.

“I’m very happy,” says Anna Dreber Almenberg. “I think it will be very interesting and rewarding – IVA is a fantastic combination of research, business and policy.”

Sara Rosengren is a professor at the Department of Marketing and Strategy and has been elected to the Economics division. Sara Rosengren is the first holder of the ICA Retailers’ chair in business administration, especially retailing. Her research is within the broad area of marketing, with a focus on consumer behavior, advertising and, in recent years, retail. Sara Rosengren has published extensively, is a member of the boards of the SSE Institute for Research and the European Advertising Academy, and has been appointed Teacher of the Year by the SSE Student Assocation.

“I am happy and proud to have been elected as a member of IVA,” says Sara Rosengren. “Bridging academia and business is increasingly important, and I look forward to participating in IVAs work to do so.”
