David Domeij appointed Professor of Economics
David Domeij is a highly reputable researcher in macroeconomics, with a special focus on fiscal and monetary policy, inequality and labor supply. At the Stockholm School of Economics he teaches macroeconomics at both the undergraduate level and on our executive education programs. For several years, he has also been the head of the Master Program in Economics.
“I am both happy and proud to have been appointed Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics, which offers a highly inspiring environment with amazing colleagues and students,” says David Domeij.
David Domeij’s research seeks answers to crucial questions of debate in both Sweden and abroad. How should fiscal and monetary policy be designed to avoid or mitigate macroeconomic crises? Why is it so much more profitable to obtain an education if you live in the US than if you live in Sweden? Is it socio-economically viable to, as in Sweden, invest in virtually free pre-school education? Through his research, David Domeij has arrived at new and profound answers to these and many other questions.
David Domeij obtained his PhD at Northwestern University under the supervision of Dale Mortensen who, in 2010, received the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Science in Memory of Alfred Nobel. David Domeij joined the Stockholm School of Economics in 1998 and has been an inspiring and pedagogical principal teacher on the mandatory course in macroeconomics at the School.
