Aida Lutaj

Meet Aida Lutaj - Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Legitify and Executive MBA alum.

Why did you choose to study an Executive MBA at SSE?

Relocating to Stockholm in 2020 marked a pivotal juncture in my professional journey, following 15 years of rich experience in the dynamic landscape of New York City and several transformative years in the Balkans. I was intrigued by the Nordic approach to business, celebrated globally for its innovation and competitiveness. The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE), renowned as the leading institution in the Nordics and among Europe's elite business schools, was the unequivocal choice for my continued education.

Moreover, I have always been an ardent proponent of the power of networks and ecosystems. SSE presented an unparalleled opportunity to immerse myself in a vibrant network, fostering new relationships and professional connections. Reflecting on my journey as an alumnus, I can unequivocally affirm that my instincts were correct.

What part of the program did you appreciate the most?

The program's most enriching aspect was its integration of diverse educational experiences across three major markets: North America (US) at Stanford University, Southeast Asia (Singapore) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School, and Northern Europe (Sweden) at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Navigating the distinct business and cultural landscapes of Stockholm, Singapore, and Silicon Valley was intellectually stimulating. This experience not only broadened our business acumen but also enriched us as informed global citizens. The immersive nature of the program, with its international scope, pushed us out of our comfort zones and fostered deeper, more meaningful relationships.

Tell us about your classmates, and how they have contributed to your learning and broadening of perspectives?

The diversity of my cohort was extraordinary, encompassing a wide array of corporate backgrounds and some entrepreneurial spirits. Group projects often saw a dynamic interplay of strong-willed Type A personalities, providing invaluable lessons in leadership, collaboration, and the importance of occasionally stepping back to allow others to lead. This experience underscored the value of teamwork among highly intelligent, well-prepared, and competitive individuals striving for excellence. Personally, I found the collaborative environment invigorating.

How did the Executive MBA affect your career during and after the program?

From the outset, my goal with the Executive MBA was to establish a robust network in the Nordics and gain deeper insights into the region's business ethos. In addition to achieving these objectives, I forged lasting friendships that continue to enrich my personal and professional life.

The true power of the network becomes evident over time. The depth and quality of these connections play a crucial role in elevating and supporting each other, professionally and personally.

Tell us a little bit about what it is you do today.

I am the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Legitify, a legaltech company dedicated to digitalizing notarization and broader legal processes across the EU, UK, and other international markets.

Interestingly, I co-founded the company and applied for the EMBA in the same year. The early success the business and investor backing, coupled with personal reasons, led me to take a leave of absence in the first year, eventually commencing my studies in December 2021.

Do you have any words of wisdom or advice you would like to share with others interested in studying an Executive MBA at SSE?

Invest time in cultivating genuine connections with everyone in your cohort, beyond those you are paired with in study or reflection groups. Each individual brings a unique perspective shaped by their life and work experiences, from which you can learn immensly.

Approach these connections with a genuine curiosity about their journey, embracing the wisdom gleaned from both their triumphs and setbacks. I view every connection not as transactional but as an opportunity for mutual growth and learning.

If business collaborations arise in the future, it is a bonus, but it should never be the primary motive for building these relationships. The primary goal should be to build authentic, meaningful connections.
