World class financial data center
Oct. 10, 2013
The name of the game in modern financial research and analysis is data. Creating and maintaining financial databases remains expensive, often out of reach for most Swedish research centers and smaller institutions. Duplication of data bases across institutions only magnifies this problem. To address this, at the Swedish House of Finance we are creating a national financial database center making data available to all researchers affiliated and active at the center.
Consolidating financial data on Swedish companies and securities, which contains unique aspects not available in international data bases, will enable us to do truly ground breaking research. The center maintains and builds on existing data bases. To aid this effort, Nasdaq OMX has donated Findata a premier database which covers Nordic stock markets with information on stock prices, corporate actions and accounting data. The Findata database will soon be available online to the entire student and academic research community in the Nordic countries. The consolidation of financial data and creation of a research data center is a major step forward towards making the Swedish House of Finance a world class leading institution in financial research.
