Pauliina Pietilä
Dan Wolgers, former board member of the Maria Bonnier Dahlin foundation, writes:
"Memory and life, painting and life, painting and memory. Painting can be a way of remembering, remembering can be a way of living. When Pauliina Pietilä remembers, she paints – but she remembers the future, as the painting lies in the future where it awaits her arrival and diligence. Waiting for her to once and again, on it, recount the dream, the treasure, all the hidden and incomprehensible, recount death and life. Her paintings await her, like the child waiting to be told a bedtime story. To narrate is to give life, life to remember, life to dream, life to be captivated by and be liberated to. Painting is life.”
Pauliina Pietilä was born in Ilmajoki, Finland 1982. She now lives and works in Malmö, Sweden. Pietilä studied at Malmö Art Academy 2006 - 2011 and at the Nordic Art School of Kokkola 2003 - 2006. She is represented in numerous collections in Sweden, such as Stockholm konst, Region Skåne, Malmö Konstmuseum, Landstinget i Uppsala län, and Sverige NoCo – Nordic Contemporary Art Collection.
