- Art Inititative is an exceptionally exciting and unique project, and an opportunity for us to work together with one of Europe's most inspiring academic leaders Lars Strannegård and a pioneering and action-oriented director in Tinni Ernsjöö Rappe. For us, this is an investment in future decision-makers' education and ability to reflect. It is the biggest single investment on the part of the foundation in more than ten years, says Lovisa Hamrin, The Hamrin Foundation´s chairwoman.
Art Initiative has been actively working with contemporary art at Stockholm School of Economics for the past ten years with the aim of making the institution even more knowledge-intensive and to enrich and broaden both education and research. Art Initiative works mainly with the school´s permanent art collection, video-based art, seminars, artist talks and exhibitions. It collaborates with both Swedish and international artists and institutions and works in close collaboration with the student association Art Division.
- Stockholm School of Economics is a social science higher education institution, and such an institution must take culture and art very seriously. Culture helps us interpret our present time and history, while offering spaces where we can test our thoughts and formulate visions of the future. We are extremely grateful that the Hamrin Foundation is investing in our work to stimulate our students' abilities to reflect, says Lars Strannegård, President of the school.
The Hamrin Foundation (Carl-Olof and Jenz Hamrin´s Foundation), based in Jönköping, wants to move society, academia and business in a positive direction through its work and investments in interdisciplinary projects. It was founded in November 1985 when Jenz Hamrin and her daughter Christina, Lovisa's mother, donated a third of their shares in the family company Herenco AB to the foundation. Since its inception, the foundation has distributed over SEK 330 million to research and education. Art Initiative is the largest single investment in 10 years for The Hamrin Foundation.
