The Atrium at SSE

The Atrium is a central, versatile space at SSE, designed to accommodate various events and gatherings, but also a place to study for our students. Divided into five distinct zones, it offers flexibility for hosting different types of occasions simultaneously.

Zones of the Atrium 

You have the flexibility to book one or multiple zones within the Atrium for your event. Please contact Info Center, info@hhs.se  to inquire about availability and reservation details. Please note that a contract needs to be signed in advance.

All zones, except for zone 3, are available for booking via the Info Center. 

  • Zones 1 + 2: Zone 1 is the area in front of the Info Center, outside the Aula and Banana corridor (curved building), and zone 2 is the opposite side of the Atrium by the plant wall.
    • Both areas are ideal for larger gatherings and events.
    • Capacity: Each section can accomodate more than 100 seated guests and approx 200 people mingling. 
  • Zone 3: This zone is a part of the cafeteria and it’s not bookable during their business hours. During some special occasions, the area has been used as kitchen by the catering firm.  
  • Zone 4: Located behind the Info Center with windows towards the playground. 
    • Suitable for smaller gatherings, such as lunches, dinners, or intimate events. 
    • Capacity: Accommodates around 35-40 seated guests. 
    • Features: Equipped with a curtain from ceiling to floor, offering privacy or a divided space for your event.  
    • Can also serve as storage space for tables and chairs from other zones 
  • Zone 5: Smaller area located in front of the stage. Good for mingeling etc.  

Capacity and Security

  • For safety and security reasons, please note that a maximum of 420 people may be in the Atrium at any given time.  
  • Escape route: There needs to be 2 meters on the each side of the stage that is clear from furniture and other loose material, to ensure a smooth evacuation in case of emergency. 
  • Two fire extinguishers can be found. In case of need for evacuation, the meeting point for all guests is in Obersatorielunden.
  • Emergency kit can be found in Info Center. 
  • Heart starter is located by the Bertil Ohlins gata-entrance. 

Serving alcohol 

If you will be serving alcohol at your event, please note that you need to conform with the SSE alcohol policy that can found in the SSE Event Planning-Team. 

In some cases you can rely on "slutet sällskap", and in other you need to rely on the SSE alcohol permission held by SASSE. If so, please contact spritis@sasse.se. 

Tables & Chairs 

The Atrium offers a variety of furniture options to accommodate your event needs. Within this space, you can find: 

  • Approx 40 tables 
  • Approx 280 chairs 
  • 9 round high tables 
  • Couches along some of the walls with permanent lights. 

Kindly note if you do not intend to use the tables and chairs during your event, it is essential to book a classroom or Zone 4 for storage purposes. Please make arrangements in advance.  

Public Clean should be involved in all refurbishments of the Atrium, so please reach out to nabila@publcclean.se. 

Signage and screens   

To assist in providing directions and information for your guests, we offer the use of standing signs as well as digital screens. 

Standing frames: There are approx. nine frames for standing A3 and A4-signs can be found on the short edge of the Info Center, towards the Aula. There are a number laminated signs available for lending in the Info Center as well, with messages such as "WC", Wardrobe" etc. with arrows pointing in directions. 

Please make sure that signs are restored after your event, and brought back to Info Center. Also, please note that signs marked Art Initiative are not to be used for other purposes.   

Digital screens: The following screens can be found in the Atrium: 

  • Entrance from Sveavägen 65: Two screens located on each side on the top of the stairs. 
  • Info Center: One screen available. 
  • Entrance from Bertil Ohlins Gata 4: One screen available. 

To request and arrange the use of digital screens, please reach out to joel.rehn@hhs.se or info@hhs.se, and provide them with images (Jpg or Png) in the format 1080 x 1920 pixles (standing). 

Please be informed that the large screen positioned on the balcony area is the property of Art Initiative and is not intended for general use during your event, 

Wardrobe 

If you require a wardrobe for your event, make sure to book a suitable room for this purpose. Room A138 is recommended, as well as the Banana corridor and zone 4. 

Please note that the use of The Light House Room (A120) is not permitted as a wardrobe area. 

Coat hangers are available, please get in contact with events@hhs.se for more information. 

Lights on the Atrium 

The lighting system in the Atrium is controlled via an iPad located in the Info Center Back Office. To receive instructions or guidance on controlling the Atrium lights via the iPad, please contact Info Center before your event. 

If the event is held in the evening, please hand the Ipad over to the Security guard before you leave. 

Internet connection 

For events requiring an internet connection beyond the SSE Guest Wi-Fi, additional arrangements can be made by contacting our IT Service Desk well in advance. 

Grand Piano 

The grand piano located in the Atrium is available for use by advanced players during events.Should the piano require tuning, it is necessary to book a piano tuner well in advance. Please note that there will be a charge associated with this service, approx 2000 SEK. Please get in contact with Info Center regarding booking and information.  

Policy for booking of the Atrium during exam periods 

To accommodate our students in the best way possible, we have the following policy when it comes to booking events in the Atrium: 

Due to both availability of study places and noise levels during exams, bookings of the Atrium will be very restricted. 

  • During exam periods the Atrium is reserved for studies.
  • The week leading up to exam periods the Atrium is reserved for studies.

All events that need the Atrium during the week leading up to, and during the exam period, must be approved by the Senior Exuecutive Vice President.
