I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at European Institute of Japanese Studies, Stockholm School of Economics. My overall sociological research interest lays in elucidating the mechanism, under which the existing patterns of social inequality persist over time. My actual research critically engages with smart city initiatives in EU and in Japan by grasping the initiatives as a transformation regional policy. I am particularly interested in pinning down commonalities as well as differences in the emerging role of experts from the knowledge industry in the policy processes of smart city building, in which the existing unequal patterns of spatial development are reinforced in EU and in Japan.
