The Center for Responsible Leadership at Stockholm School of Economics is an international network of interdisciplinary researchers and educators who address contemporary organizational and societal challenges including those related to: 

Power and politics – what can we learn from political and organizational leaders in the public sphere about responsible leadership? Public performances of leadership shape impressions about who can lead and what good leadership looks like. By exploring how leaders challenge these unhelpful constraints and create alternatives, the work of the Center seeks to foster more creative and diverse practices of leadership. The Center also helps leaders to develop the political skills that enable them to be more responsive towards others.   

Digital transformation – how can we lead responsibly in societies and organizations at a time of rapid technological change?  Increasing deployment of novel and emerging technologies in the workplace is disrupting social relationships and interactions among employees. We need to understand how these advances in virtual and hybrid work and artificial intelligence (AI), are radically altering work by replacing or changing tasks traditionally performed by people and reshaping the meaning of work. 

Migration and inclusion – How can organizations be responsible social actors in a changing society? What forms of socially responsible leadership do inclusive organizations embody? Several research projects in the Center address these questions by exploring the role of organizations in supporting the labour market inclusion of refugees and skilled migrants. Other research takes a relational approach and considers issues of authenticity, mindfulness and professional responsibility. 

The Center actively collaborates with a range of private, public and non-profit organizations including: Axel Johnson, Axfood, Ericsson, IKEA, Jobbentré, Mitt Liv, Styrelseakademien, Vattenfall and several Swedish municipalities.
