Martin Messner is Professor of Management Control at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and Visiting Professor at Stockholm School of Economics. He carries out mainly empirical research on management accounting and control practices (e.g., performance measurement, budgeting) and on the roles of management accountants and other specialist staff. Martin is co-organising the annual workshop on Management Accounting as Social and Organisational Practice (MASOP) that rotates between different cities, and he contributed, for several years, to the management of the European Accounting Association (EAA). For several years, he has been involved in international doctoral education in accounting, contributing to courses offered by the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM) and the German Academic Association for Business Research (VHB).
