EJARN Conference 2024 "The EU and Japan in the Indo-Pacific"
Events in 2023 highlighted the growing strength of Asian countries in regional and global politics.China’s continued engagement in Russia’s war in Ukraine, India’s successful hosting of the G20 summit, and Japan’s similar role in the G7 summit were but a few events in which these countries played a large role. Increasingly, the Indo-Pacific region is becoming the beacon of not only growth and innovation, but also political leadership. But are the Indo-Pacific strategies and visions of Asian, as well as extra-regional, powers, complementary? What dynamics shape the region, and how can we best grasp them? It is our aim to better understand the power, economic and other dynamics that take place in (and beyond) the Indo-Pacific.
We invite papers within the broader spectrum of social science on EU-Japan relations in a changing international environment as well as papers on various aspects of Japan and the international society (in and outside of the Indo-Pacific).If you are interested in participating, please send an abstract (max. 500 words) of your paper to michal.kolmas@mup.cz no later than 29th February 2024. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or need further information.
EJARN has applied for funding for the conference, if secured the priority will be given to those presenting papers.
