Pursue Your PhD at the House of Innovation
Program Structure:
The PhD program at HOI is structured to support your development as an independent researcher. Over four to five years, you will engage in a combination of coursework, original research, and teaching experience. Key components of the program include:
- Advanced Coursework:
A specially designed course program, Stockholm-Uppsala Business Studies (SUBS), is run jointly with Uppsala University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and offers four mandatory courses (30 ECTS) in the first semester of the program. After that, an additional 60 ECTS should be taken by the student in your chosen field, such as innovation management, entrepreneurship, digital transformation or specialized methodological courses. It is possible to complete the course work in other institutions in Sweden or abroad. - Doctoral Dissertation:
The centerpiece of the PhD program is your doctoral dissertation, an original piece of research that contributes new knowledge to your field. You will work closely with your academic advisor and faculty members to develop your research proposal, conduct your study, and write your dissertation. The dissertation could be in the format of a monograph or paper-based thesis. - Teaching and Mentoring:
As part of your PhD journey, you will gain valuable teaching experience by serving as a teaching assistant (TA) for undergraduate or master's courses. This experience will help you develop your pedagogical skills and prepare you for a career in academia. - Research Seminars:
Participate in research seminars where you will present your work, receive feedback from peers and faculty, and engage with leading scholars in your field. These seminars are an essential part of the academic community at HOI and provide a platform for intellectual exchange.
