DigCon – the digitalisation of consumption.
This 5-year, interdisciplinary research program funded by The Swedish Research Council (VR) is a joint effort by The Center for Consumer Science (CFK), Gothenburg, Professor Franck Cochoy, University of Toulouse, Jean Jaurès, and Professor Hans Kjellberg, Center for Market Studies, SSE. The program investigates the social, cultural and economic consequences of the digitalization of consumption. In particular, it aims to study how digital market devices – scanners, smartphones, tablets, electronic shelf labels, etc. – contribute to shape product markets and consumption practices. Hans Kjellberg has been involved in two sub-projects in the program: a study of how the digitalization of music affects music consumption, and a historical study of the evolution of digital devices in grocery retailing. Articles from these projects have been published (or are forthcoming) in European Journal of Management, European Journal of Marketing, Organization, Economy and Society.
