Research
SSE is home to some 30 research centers. Some are embedded in one department, others link two or more departments, and others operate autonomously. Many of these units conduct research that addresses various SDG topics, and some are exclusively dedicated to such research.
Human Capital and Sustainable Economic Development
Research in this area aims at understanding how investments in human capital can improve the education, health, and well-being of people in a range of countries and thus translate into more sustainable development. Some examples of such ongoing research at SSE includes:
Sustainable Finance and Accounting
With finance and accounting being a key component of the transition to a sustainable global economy, there are a number of SSE researchers exploring this topic to reveal the ways we can design and implement accounting infrastructures to create fair and just markets. Some examples of their work can be found at some of the following centers:

Sustainable Business Development and Practice
Sustainable business practices and development is informed by research carried out on entrepreneurship, innovation and management. There are a number of centers and departments that focus on these areas, looking a range from inclusive hiring practices, resilience and innovation within family businesses, and design thinking as a means of developing new solutions to age old problems.
