SNS/SHoF Finance panel: Sweden´s future payments system
Sweden is one of the first countries in the world where the Central bank makes a study on the pros and cons of having a digital currency as a complement to notes and coins. The second such report was published on October 26 and deals with the e-krona. Deputy Governor of the Riksbank, Cecilia Skingsley will present the report on a seminar with the SNS/Swedish House of Finance, Finance Panel.
The supply of digital payments solutions in Sweden has led to a decreasing use of notes and coins. Are there risks with a cashless society? Should the Riksbank offer an alternative to notes and coins? Are regulations of the payments markets an alternative to an e-krona?
The Finance Panel is a meeting forum for the financial sector, hosted by SNS and the Swedish House of Finance.
Swedish House of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics is Sweden’s national research center in financial economics.
