Per Strömberg new Head of Department of Finance

Per Strömberg has been appointed new Head of the Department of Finance for the period from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022.
Per Strömberg holds a position as SSE Centennial Professor of Finance and Private Equity at the Department of Finance, where he teaches Private Equity in the MSc-program. He is also Adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he teaches Financial Strategy in the international Executive MBA program. He holds a PhD and MSc from Carnegie Mellon University, and an undergraduate degree from SSE.
Dr Strömberg's research has primarily focused on the two areas of bankruptcy and private equity finance, and has been acknowledged with several best paper prizes in the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Financial Intermediation. His current projects include modelling returns and fundraising in illiquid asset markets, analysing the drivers of wages in the financial industry, evaluating the effect of the Swedish CO2-taxation of firm behaviour, and understanding the role of business angels for funding young firms.
Dr Strömberg is a member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences, and the prize committee of the Sveriges Riksbank Economics Prize in the Memory of Alfred Nobel. He received the 2006 Researcher of the Year award at the Stockholm School of Economics, the 2011 Assar Lindbeck Medal (awarded bi-annualy to an economist in Sweden below the age of 45), and the SSE Teacher of the Year Award in 2013.
