New management of the Swedish House of Finance
jun. 01, 2021
We are pleased to share that the Swedish House of Finance has a new Director and a new Chairman of the Board. At the same time, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all of the hard work by our previous Director Anders Anderson and Chairman of the Board Gabriel Urwitz.
At the annual meeting of the Swedish House of Finance on May 19th, Anders Anderson and Gabriel Urwitz handed over their respective responsibilities to our new Director, Per Strömberg, and Chairman of the Board, Niklas Ekvall. In addition, Göran Robertsson has been appointed Executive Director and he will work in close cooperation with Per Strömberg in the day-to-day management of the Center.
Anders Anderson and Gabriel Urwitz have both been instrumental in the creation of Swedish House of Finance in its current form.
– Swedish House of Finance is in many ways a complex institution with many interested parties such as the Stockholm School of Economics, the Department of Finance, the Ministry of Finance, Vinnova, other universities that are part of the system, sponsors from the private sector and others. When Swedish House of Finance was founded in 2010/11, all governance issues were not fully in place. Without the outstanding work over the last ten years by Anders as Director in keeping the Center together and developing it, but also see to it that each interested party was handled in a professional way, SHoF would not be where it is today, an institute for financial research of the highest international standard and reputation. We all owe Anders a very big thank you. It has been a pleasure and honor to work with Anders, said Gabriel Urwitz at the annual meeting.
– Gabriel’s strong personal engagement and support has been crucial for where the center stands today. He is a person who has deep insights in both the financial sector as well as academia, and has thus been the ideal representative for the center towards our many different types of stakeholders, said Anders Anderson.
Anders Anderson will stay on as a Senior Advisor until the fall, facilitating the handover to the new management. Our new Director, Per Strömberg is the Centennial Professor of Finance and Private Equity at the Stockholm School of Economics and currently the Head of the Department of Finance. He is also Adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Göran Robertsson comes most recently from Riksgälden (the Swedish National Debt Office) where he held the position as Head of Debt Management. Göran holds a PhD in Finance from the SSE, where he also co-founded SIFR (SIFR merged with Swedish House of Finance in 2016).
Niklas Ekvall is the CEO of AP4, a Swedish public pension fund. Niklas’s previous positions include Head of Treasury at Nordea Bank, Head of Asset Management at Nordea, Carnegie, and AP3 respectively. He holds a PhD from the Stockholm School of Economics where he has also been adjunct professor and lecturer.
