Author talk: Ann-Helén Laestadius
In Stolen, the award-winning writer Ann-Helén Laestadius portrays a young woman’s struggle to defend her indigenous heritage in a world where xenophobia is on the rise, climate change is threatening reindeer herding, and young people choose suicide in the face of collective desperation.
Ann-Helén Laestadius, born 1971 in Jukkasjärvi, is a Swedish Sámi journalist and bestselling writer. She has written seven children stories, two picture books and Stolen is her first adult novel. Her new novel Punished was published in January 2023. Ann-Helén lives in Stockholm and is Sámi and of Tornedalinan descent, two of Sweden's national minorities.
The conversation will be lead by SSE student Volodymyr Kykot and Giada Baldessarelli, Assistant Professor at the Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology.
