Andrea Renda

Senior Research Fellow and Head of Global Governance, Regulation, Innovation & Digital Economy at CEPS

Andrea Renda is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels, where he directs the research group on on Global Governance, Regulation, Innovation and the Digital Economy (GRID). He is Professor of Digital Policy at the School of Transnational Governance of the European University Institute, in Florence (Italy), where he teaches Courses on AI Policy and on the regulation of emerging technologies. He is also Visiting Professor of Competition Policy and the Digital Economy at the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium). Andrea is a Fellow of the World Academy of Arts and Science, a CITI Fellow at Columbia University’s Centre for Tele-Information, member of the OECD Network of Experts on AI and a member of the European Parliament’s STOA International Advisory Board. Andrea provides regular advice to several institutions, including the European Commission, the European Parliament, the OECD, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and many more. He sits in the Editorial Board of the journals Telecommunications Policy (Elsevier), and European Journal of Risk Regulation (Cambridge). He was a member of the EU High Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence; member of the advisory group on Economic and Societal Impacts of Research (ESIR), for the European Commission, DG Research and Innovation; and member of the Expert Group on “Smart Specialisation Strategies for Sustainability” (S4) at the European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre. He is the Co-director of the Brookings/CEPS Forum for Global Cooperation on AI. and a former member of the Task Force on AI of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. From May 2022, Andrea is the Director of the Trade and Technology Dialogue, a consortium of universities and think tanks that provides support to the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council for the period May 2022-May 2025.

Magnus Mähring is the Erling Persson Professor of Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE), Chair of the SSE House of Innovation and the Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology, and a Fellow at Cambridge University and at IMIT. He also serves as co-director for the Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (SCDI). He previously served as SSE’s Associate Dean for MSc programs, Academic Director for the CEMS Master in International Management program, and Head of Strategic International Collaborations. He has held visiting positions at Georgia State University and Ecole de Management Strasbourg.

Marina Bill

Marina Bill is the Global Head of Marketing and Sales for ABB’s Robotics and Discrete Automation business. She has held this role since 2019.

Since joining ABB in 1997, she has held various positions of in-creasing responsibility including Global Head of Marketing and Sales for ABB’s Robotics and Motion Division, Product Group Manager for ABB’s Power Generation Automation Products business line, Global Marketing and Sales Manager ABB Auto-mation business line, Global Project Excellence Manager of ABB Power Systems division, Marketing Manager and Regional Sales Manager, ABB Network Management.

As of 2020, Marina is a member of the IFR (International Feder-ation of Robotics) Executive Board, currently serving as Chair of the IFR Robotic Suppliers Committee. She is also a board mem-ber of PIAB AB, a Swedish automation company specialized on gripping, lifting and moving solutions, as well as the president of ADRA, an AI, Data, and Robotics partnership in digital, industry, and space in Horizon Europe.

Marina has lived and worked in Sweden, the UK, Germany and the Philippines. She is currently based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Marina holds a master’s degree in industrial engineering and management, specializing in thermodynamics from the Royal in-stitute of Technology in Stockholm. She is a graduate of the In-ternational Institute for Management Development’s (IMD) Sen-ior Leadership Development Program in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Maryann Feldman

Maryann P. Feldman is the Watts Professor of Public Policy and Management at the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University and research director at the Global Center for Technology Transfer.  She is a senior fellow at Heartland Forward, a nonpartisan “think and do tank” focused on improving economic performance. Feldman chairs the Policy Forum of the Science, Technology and Economic Policy Board of the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, where she also chairs a congressional mandated assessment of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.  Feldman serves on the advisory board of the Canadian Institute for Advance Research (CIFAR) global program on Innovation, Equity and the Future of Prosperity and is a board member of the Ontario Brain Institute. She is an editor of the journal Research Policy, the leading journal in the field of innovation studies.

 

Dr. Feldman was a winner of the Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research for her contributions to the study of the geography of innovation, the commercialization of university research and the role of entrepreneurial activity in the formation of regional industry clusters.  Feldman is a prolific and highly cited author.  She received the Distinguished Scholar award from the Technology and Innovation Management division of the Academy of Management. 

 

Maryann Feldman holds a PhD in economics and management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where she also earned a Master of Science in management and policy analysis. Her Bachelor of Arts in economics and geography is from Ohio State University.

Matin Mohaghegh

Matin is a postdoctoral research fellow at the House of Innovation (HOI), Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). He previously spent two years as a post-doc researcher at the Chair of Operations Management, University of Stuttgart in Germany. Prior to that, he obtained his PhD in "Management" at the Department of Economics and Management, University of Padova, Italy with a particular focus on problem-solving at both operational and strategic domains. Matin holds a MSc in “Management Engineering” from Politecnico di Milano.

His research mainly focuses on operations and supply chain strategies (e.g., lean management, and agile supply chains) and, in particular, how such strategies embrace sustainability and contribute to sustainable business performance across the triple bottom line (including economic, environmental, and social benefits). Recently, due to growing attention towards “digitalization” as a significant field of research as well as a contemporary business issue, he also focuses on how high-impact digital technologies such as Big Data (Analytics) can be employed for sustainable supply chains.

His research has appeared in journals such as Journal of Cleaner Production, Management Decision, Management Research Review, and Systemic Practice and Action Research. He actively participates and presents his research at international conferences such as Academy of Management (AoM), European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), System Dynamics Society, and European Academy of Management (EURAM).

Mattias Perjos

Mattias Perjos is the President and CEO of Getinge, a global leading supplier of innovative medtech products and solutions within healthcare and life science.
Prior to his current position Mattias held the position as CEO of the IPS Division in the Coesia Group, a privately owned Italian group of companies. In addition to his role as CEO, Mattias was Managing Director of Coesia International which includes the subsidiaries in China, Japan, South Korea, South-East Asia, India, the Americas, Russia, Africa and the Middle East.
Mattias began his career at Sandvik and shortly thereafter joined FlexLink, where he held a number of leading international positions between the years 1997 and 2012 including the role of CEO from 2006.
Mattias was born in 1972 and holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from Luleå University of Technology.

Nada Sanders

Dr. Sanders is an internationally recognized thought leader and expert in forecasting, predictive analytics, risk management and supply chain management. Her expertise is identifying best practices in forecasting, developing an enterprise technology strategy, digital transformation, understanding systems and creating resilient supply chains. Throughout her career Dr. Sanders has successfully held a range of leadership roles in both academic and professional organizations, is an award winning teacher and scholar, has served on numerous executive boards, and is a frequently called upon keynote speaker.

Dr. Sanders is author of seven books, most recently The Humachine: Humankind, Machines, and the Future of Enterprise (Routledge, 2020), which has won numerous awards including Top Innovation Books of 2020 and shortlisted for Outstanding Book Category 2019 by Taylor & Francis. She is also author of Supply Chain Management: A Global Perspective in its 3rd edition (Wiley), and Operations Management, going into the 8th edition, and are the leading textbooks on operations and supply chain management.

She is highly published in leading scholarly journals, such as Harvard Business Review, Decision Sciences Journal, California Management Review, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management Journal and countless others. Her California Management Review paper titled “How to Use Big Data to Drive Your Supply Chain,” was a Top 10 most downloaded paper for 2017 and listed as a “must read. She was ranked in the top 8 percent of individuals in the field of operations management from a pool of 738 by a study of research productivity in U.S. business schools and was ranked as the world’s top 2% of scientists by a 2020 Stanford study.

She is a lifetime Fellow of the Decision Sciences Institute, has served on the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF), Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), and is immediate Past-President of the Production Operations Management Society (POMS), an organization that in 2020 created an award in her name to acknowledge her contribution. She is a frequent keynote speaker, has consulted with numerous Fortune 100 companies, and serves on the Board of Economic Advisors of the Association of Industries of Massachusetts (AIM).

Dr. Sanders is the Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain Management at the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University. Previously she served as the Iacocca Chair at Lehigh University and as the West Chair and Professor of Supply Chain Management the M.J. Neeley School of Business, TCU, where she was also Research Director of the Supply and Value Chain Center. She holds a Ph.D. in Operations Management and Logistics, and an MBA, from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, as well as a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Peter Carlsson

Peter Carlsson is the CEO and founder of Northvolt. He left the position as CPO and Head of Supply Chain at Tesla Motors in the end of 2015 to become an entrepreneur, advisor and angel investor. In 2016 Peter founded Northvolt with the mission to build Europe’s largest lithium-ion battery factory. 

Before joining Tesla, Peter was the CPO for NXP (former Philips Semiconductors) responsible for purchasing and outsourcing. Located in Singapore, he was country manager for Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines. Before starting at NXP, Peter was CPO at Sony Ericsson since 2005. Peter had a total of 13 years’ experience from different roles with Ericsson and Sony Ericsson. He has a Master’s degree with specialization in production and quality control at Luleå Technical University in Sweden. 

Petra Ålund

Susanna Franche Rodau

Susanna Francke Rodau works as VP and Head of Global Policy & Patient Access at Elekta, one of Sweden’s largest life science companies. As the second largest radiotherapy corporation in the world, Elekta engages in healthcare policy development and innovation transformation across the globe. In Sweden, Elekta is a proud founding member of the Vision Zero Cancer initiative, a penta-helix collaboration with the aim to eradicate cancer as a deadly disease.

Susanna’s career spans almost two decades across different parts of life science, having held managerial positions in pharma, diagnostics, government and medtech. Susanna is also an alumni of the Stockholm School of Economics.

Virginia Dignum

Virginia Dignum is Professor of Responsible Artificial Intelligence at Umeå University, Sweden and director of WASP-HS, the Wallenberg Program on Humanities and Society for AI, Autonomous Systems and Software, the largest Swedish national research program on fundamental multidisciplinary research on the societal and human impact of AI. She is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), and a Fellow of the European Artificial Intelligence Association (EURAI). She is member of the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI), World Economic Forum’s Global Artificial Intelligence Council, Executive Committee of the IEEE Initiative on Ethically Aligned Design, of ALLAI, the Dutch AI Alliance, EU’s High Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence, and leader of UNICEF's guidance for AI and children, and member of UNESCO expert group on the implementation of AI recommendations. She is author of “Responsible Artificial Intelligence: developing and using AI in a responsible way.
