Tech talk | Finding tomorrow’s Taylor Swift: How AI is helping the music industry find tomorrow’s superstars - 6 Mar 2025
Snafu Records is the world’s first AI-driven record label. Its algorithms scan through millions of artists from all over the world and identify the undervalued ‘diamonds in the rough’. Born at SSE, Snafu Records’ music is now streamed over 1 billion times each year, and its artists count over 20 Grammy nominations between them.
However, identifying talent with algorithms has its challenges. Can an AI really discover the next Taylor Swift? Is there a difference between ‘good’ music and ‘successful’ music? And is streaming really a viable business model in a post-AI era? These are questions we will explore.
Snafu Records is the world’s first AI-enabled record label, using machine learning algorithms to identify and acquire undervalued IP rights. Founded in Stockholm in 2018, the company now represents over 300 artists across all continents and many different genres.
