Job Opportunity - Outreach Officer at House of Innovation

About the role 

As Outreach Officer, you will work closely with the Head of Operations, as well as the Chair (head of unit) and other faculty and staff at the House of Innovation. Since this is a young unit, you will actively contribute to shaping how it operates and interacts with the environment. Your role as Outreach Officer will be focused on delivering excellent outreach (events, information, etc.) externally as well as within the House. The House is still growing, and new collaborations are explored and formed continuously. You are expected to take an active part in establishing and managing collaborations with companies, public sector organizations, academic institutions, and other actors within our field.

You will work in collaboration with the other members of the operations team but have a lot of individual responsibilities, as well as freedom to plan your work.

Job description 

  • Further develop the unit’s overall outreach and media strategy in collaboration with the communications officer and the SSE External Relations unit
  • Responsible for managing the process of planning, organizing, and executing all outreach and knowledge exchange events
  • Supply visual materials for outreach and collaborating networks
  • Take point in collaboration with SSE External relations concerning Corporate Partners
  • Together with Head of Operations and Head of Unit build innovation partnerships and develop networks and centers around the House
  • The job may contain other tasks, such as supporting recruitment processes or other operational tasks within the operations team.

Qualifications

You are a collaborative doer who enjoys working both operationally and strategically. You are detail-oriented, take initiatives, and drive processes forward. This includes being the leading force in getting information and people together for excellent deliveries. Furthermore, you are autonomous and have exceptional communication skills.   

Required: 

  • Strong interest in innovation, digitalization, and entrepreneurship, and a desire to further develop your knowledge within these areas
  • Strong digital skillset, enabling advanced and creative use of digital channels, as well as the production of seminars/conferences, presentations, and reports 
  • Strong project management skills (documented experience required)
  • Exceptional spoken and written language skills in English (Swedish skills are a plus)  

Meritorious: 

  • Experience from international settings
  • Experience in event planning and execution
  • A university degree and/or experience from an academic setting

The House of Innovation is an interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach environment at SSE. It produces scientifically based knowledge about innovation, digitalization, and entrepreneurship relevant to academics, corporations, government agencies, civil society actors, and individuals. In doing so, it interacts with an international network of scholars and academic institutions, as well as with corporate and institutional funders. The House encompasses the Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Technology, the Jacob and Marcus Wallenberg Center for Innovative and Sustainable Business Development, the Scania Center for Innovation and Operational Excellence, the Center for Data Analytics, and the Stockholm node of the Swedish Center of Digital Innovation.
