webcast: Central banks and sustainability
20 juni, 2017
Watch this webcast from a seminar with Misum´s Max Jerneck at Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) on Monday June 19, 2017.
Max Jerneck is a researcher at Misum. Here, Max presents at SEI on the topic of "How central banks could support the transition to sustainabilityā€¯.
Climate change makes it necessary to replace fossil fuels with low-carbon alternatives, but there is currently no adequate funding model to support this transition. Max discusses how a clean technology funding mechanism could be devised to fit this financial environment. In particular by giving central banks the mandate to fund the acquisition of equity stakes in successful clean technology ventures, venture capital would be provided a viable exit strategy thus inducing investment.
